The Uyghur American Association (UAA)/Uyghur Human Rights Project (UHRP) is releasing a press kit with information for the press on the Guantanamo Uyghurs. The press kit has been written to outline the events surrounding the Guantanamo Uyghurs’ journey from East Turkestan, as well as to explain the role of the Uyghur-American community in assisting with the integration of the 17 men into American society.

The kit includes background information on the repression in East Turkestan which led to the flight of Uyghurs overseas, and quotes by Ms. Rebiya Kadeer, Uyghur democracy leader, on the Guantanamo Uyghur issue. In addition, the press kit includes details on UAA’s mission and the Uyghur-American community. Contact details are also provided for the media to contact Ms. Kadeer and Mr. Alim Seytoff, UAA General Secretary, for interviews.
