Project Manager Job Announcement:
The Uyghur Human Rights Project Project Manager
The Uyghur Human Rights Project, a Washington, D.C.-based human rights organization that promotes human rights and democracy for the Uyghur people, is seeking an experienced, well-organized self-starter to fill its Project Manager position.
Responsibilities of the Project Manager include:
Reporting on and managing grant funds, including regular narrative and financial reports;
Developing grant proposals for current and new sources of funding;
Office management, including supervision of interns and other administrative staff;
Oversight of all financial and administrative aspects of the Project, including procurement of supplies and services, as well as maintaining the Project’s press release mailing list;
Managing relations with other human rights organizations, acting as a liaison with media contacts, and responding to any other information requests;
Representing UHRP by speaking at or participating in conferences, meetings, and hearings/briefings when necessary;
Working with the Researcher on news releases and reports when necessary, and conducting advocacy work on individual cases;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
BA degree required (Masters preferred). Degree in political science, international affairs, Chinese Studies, Central Asian Studies, Human Rights Studies or similar field preferred;
Four to five years of work experience in the non-profit organizational management and/or human rights advocacy field;
Background in developing funding proposals and experience in grant-writing;
Demonstrated record of managing budget and financial monitoring systems;
Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (required). Uyghur language (or any Turkic language) skills are a definite plus;
Excellent written and verbal communications;
Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure;
Proficiency in Macintosh systems and Microsoft Office software applications.
