The Uyghur Human Rights Project (UHRP) has submitted a report for consideration by the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in preparation for the Committee’s examination of the 3rd periodic report of China.
Time: Mon Sep 14, 2020, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Location: Virtual panel discussion
About the event
The mass internment of members of the Muslim Uyghur ethnicity in China’s Xinjiang province continues to attract global attention and concern. Adding to the complexity is the opinion that world leaders such as President Trump are focusing on the atrocities for political gain instead of humanitarian interests. Building on established facts, panelists will introduce and examine historical and cultural perspectives related to the Xinjiang region, the Uyghur people, and Beijing’s actions.
