The Transaction and Sourcing Knowledge (TASK) Act (S.1358) was introduced in the Senate on April 8, 2025, by Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) for himself and cosponsors Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA).

The bill requires companies to report how they check and manage their supply chains, especially if they import products with potential ties to forced labor in Xinjiang.

The full title is: “To require the Securities and Exchange Commission to require reporting of sourcing and due diligence activities of companies involving supply chains of products that are imported into the United States that are directly linked to products utilizing forced labor from Xinjiang, China, and for other purposes.”

The TASK Act:

  • Requires publicly traded US  companies to disclose forced labor risks in annual SEC filings.
  • Requires importers to report due diligence on supply chains, including supplier identities and labor practices, with products linked to forced labor in the Uyghur Region.
  • Requires publicly traded US companies operating in China to report if the company has a CCP committee, and any influence said committee has within the company.
