The Uyghur people are a mostly Muslim ethnic group across central and eastern Asia, and many millions also live in China. The presence of the Chinese government’s “re-education” camps for its Uyghur citizens have now come to light. But it’s clear these are more like concentration camps made to detain up to 1 million Uyghur men and even brainwash or abuse them.

Jessica Batke is an expert on China’s domestic political and social affairs. Omer Kanat is Director of the Uyghur Human Rights Project. They both join us for an update about the dire situation of Uyghur Muslims in China, particularly regarding these dangerous camps.
