Report: Uyghur Diaspora Faces Chinese Harassment

Uyghur Muslims outside of China are facing online harassment and intimidation by suspected Chinese state agents, notes a report released Wednesday by the nonprofit Uyghur Human Rights Project. The report reveals that 72 percent of 66 Uyghurs surveyed by UHRP in countries, including the U.S., Australia and Japan, had been targeted by a Chinese government “campaign of transnational repression.”

The spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in D.C., LIU PENGYU, issued a written response which dismissed the report’s allegations as “not worth refuting [and] completely groundless.”
