Xinjiang cargo flight surge raises supply chain fears

The recent expansion of air cargo routes from the Uyghur region of China, to over a dozen European cities poses a new threat to the integrity of European and UK supply chains, says the Uyghur Human Rights Project (UHRP).

A new investigation by the UHRP found that nine new air freight services from Ürümchi, the capital city of the Xinjiang region, have opened up to Europe since June 2024. Cargo being delivered to Europe direct from the region includes textiles, footwear, electronics, and agricultural products.
