The Uyghur Human Rights Project, the Uyghur American Association, and the World Uyghur Congress are marking December 9 as Uyghur Genocide Recognition day. It is the 2nd anniversary of the finding of genocide by the Uyghur Tribunal, and the 75th anniversary of the Genocide Convention. The program will highlight the grounds for findings of genocide and crimes against humanity and point to the path ahead for accountability, deterrence, and the humanitarian response for the victims and survivors. The event will also highlight the Congressional response to the genocide, including pending bills such as the bipartisan Uyghur Policy Act of 2023, the Uyghur Genocide Accountability Sanctions Act of 2023, and the Transnational Policy Act of 2023.
