On the occasion of International Women’s Day, join the Uyghur Human Rights Project and the World Uyghur Congress Women’s Committee for a discussion highlighting ongoing atrocities against Uyghur and other Turkic women in East Turkistan.

UHRP and the WUC draw attention to the difficult situation faced by Uyghur, Kazakh and other Turkic women in East Turkistan. Uyghur and other Turkic women face multiple forms of discrimination and are subject to horrific human rights abuses on the basis of their ethnic identity, religion, and gender.

Since 2017, the Chinese party-state has waged a genocidal campaign against Uyghurs and other Turkic people in East Turkistan. The party-state has detained millions of Uyghurs and other Turkic people in concentration camps and prisons; separated families; institutionalized children; prevented new births; and conscripted untold numbers of people into forced labour, among other atrocities. Major rights organizations, governments, and an independent tribunal have issued judgments that this campaign amounts to crimes against humanity and genocide.

Panelists: Andréa Worden, Rahima Mahmut, Dr. Sophie Richardson
