UHRP Oral History Project – Spotlight on the Ghulja Massacre

The Uyghur American Association (UAA) organized a demonstration in front of China’s embassy in Washington, DC on February 5, 2014 to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the Ghulja Massacre. At the event, the Uyghur Human Rights Project conducted an interview with Ilyar Shamseden, originally of Ghulja, about the history of the massacre. The interview, conducted in Uyghur language, has been translated with English subtitles. Watch the video on YouTube here:

The Uyghur American Association also filmed the demonstration, featuring speeches in the Uyghur language by Uyghur democracy leader Rebiya Kadeer as well as UAA President Alim Seytoff. Watch the video on YouTube here:
